Orders for the new AppleTV were pushed back to start shipping this week, and while no one has one in hand the Jailbreak community has already said they can Jailbreak it. How you ask? A piece of software called SHAtter. SHAtter is the Dev-Team’s way to overkill jailbreak any iDevice.
Now how does the Jailbreaking community know that this will work? Twitter user Chpwn (who is an iPhone Developer) found a link on Apple’s site to download a restore IPSW file. IPSW files are the software files (apps and OS) for iDevices.
Quoted from the Dev-Team Blog: “It’s looking like SHAtter is going to be the gift that keeps on giving. Even though the new AppleTV isn’t yet in people’s homes, the firmware is available on Apple’s normal public distribution servers and SHAtter has been used to decrypt its keys!“
