Full Facebook integration in next gen iPhone?

There are rumors floating around about Facebook and specifically Facebook Connect being integrated into future iterations of the iPhone OS.  Speculators discussing the integration are weighing in on the scope and side effects of this impending synergistic move.

Is Apple going to emulate the Palm Pre and have your Facebook contacts  and avatars imported?  Will they add Facebook chat into the iPhone chat client?  Do you want those people from high school randomly IM’ing you during the day?  Do you want Facebook Connect’s ‘Social Functions’ serving you ads for the stores you walk past in real time?

Where do you weigh in on the subject?  Would you put up with more targeted advertising for contact syncing and chat integration?  Are these changes deeply tied in with the increasing concerns of Facebook’s Privacy stance, or lack thereof?  Expect to hear all the details on June 7th at the Worldwide Developers Conference when they reveal (officially) the new 4th Generation iPhone.

I think for some people it will be awesome for facebook addicts like me and not so much for others who don’t use or like it. I would hope there would be the option to have it or not…I guess we will have to wait and see!

I imagine it will come down to how you feel about privacy, if your concerns outweigh the coolness of having your caller ID pictures imported and updated via facebook. Sounds minor, but since I have the Palm Pre I know how cool it is to have caller ID pics change themselves. During the whole ‘use a celebrity picture as your avatar’ week I got calls from Bruce Willis and Giovani Ribisi all week! Which made me laugh.
