MacBook Air, the 1.5lbs, low power, super portable laptop isn’t doing so well. Introduced in January 2008 (I was at that MacWorld!) and last updated in June of 2009, the Air is a great laptop for those on the go. The lack of upgrades made it un-welcomed by a lot of computer users. The machine comes with 2GB of built in RAM, and either an 80GB or 128GB SSD HD.
So what’s the rumor? A smaller version of course! Try a 11.6″ screen. Try a carbon-fiber enclosure to make it thinner and lighter. Try an Intel Core i-series ultra low voltage processor to make the battery last longer.
Sounds like a netbook to me, which if you are keeping track Steve Jobs said that he WOULD not enter that market.
According to DigiTimes over 400,000 orders have been placed to manufacturer Quanta for new Airs by the end of the year.
