Tech Tip Tool Thursday – How To Burn Music To CD

It’s Thursday which means we are that much closer to the weekend and of course it is Tech Tip Tool Thursday!  Today’s lesson will teach you how to burn your latest and greatest music to a CD in iTunes.

First you have to create a playlist.  To do this fire up your iTunes and click on the plus sign at the very bottom left hand corner of the iTunes window.  You should see a new playlist called “Untitled Playlist.”  Rename the list to something you will remember, like car mix or Glee for you Gleeks out there.

Now go into your music collection and drag some music into the list.  After you put everything in that you want, right click on the playlist and select the option to burn playlist to disc.

Next you will see the option menu for the CD you are trying to create.  It should look something like this.

At this point you can choose to burn the disc as an MP3 CD or an Audio CD.  The difference is that an MP3 CD can hold a lot more music on it than an Audio CD.  An audio CD is only capable of holding up to 15 songs or so.  An MP3 CD can hold up to a few hundred songs.  Big difference, yes but if your CD player doesn’t support MP3 CD’s then you can not use that option.

After you choose the options you want, select Burn and then put an empty CD into your CD drive and iTunes will take care of the rest.
