How do you like that?  Another cool feature that works in OS X that never works in Windows.  Love it!

Today’s Tech Tip Tool Thursday is all about Internet sharing.  How can this be done you ask?  Read on to find out!

If you are ever at an office or a friend’s house that does not offer a WiFi connection, you can still get onto the web from your computer by having them enable Internet Sharing.  You can access this feature in System Preferences–>Sharing and then check the box next to Internet Sharing.

Select the type of connection that you will be using.  If you are plugged in via Ethernet and want to share your connection with someone using an Airport then Airport will show up as a selection for the “To Computers Using” option.

When the user goes to connect to your computer’s Internet connection, which is now a pseudo Airport Base Station, the network name they should select would be the computer name which also shows up in the Sharing pane of System Preferences but was cut out for the above photo.

It is a pretty easy quick fix when you are in a bind.  Just remember to turn it off after you are done using it!
