Some of you are saying, “I’m not a moron, I know how to use tabbed browsing!”  Then others are saying “I don’t even know what a tab is on my Mac!”

For those of you who already know, i’m sorry!  For those of you who don’t, keep reading.

This week’s Tech Tip Tool Thursday is all about tabbed browsing.  We here at the Big Apple Blog are all about keeping this neat, organized and looking good.  Some days we have so many different blogs and websites to monitor it gets to be overwhelming.  All of the web browsers you can use these days (Safari, Firefox, Chrome, Internet Explorer and Opera) allow you to open multiple web pages in one window.

For this exercise, we’ll show you how to open a new tab in Safari.  If you have questions about how to make this work in other browsers, send us a question at www.thebigappleblog.com/submissions.

In Safari, you can push Commmand+T and a new blank page will open in the same window.  If you have Safari set to start with a Google home page or The New York Times then a new tab will open with that.

You can adjust your tab settings by going into the Safari preferences menu and selecting the tabs option.  The menu should look something like this.

Another way to add a new tab to your current window is to click File–>New Tab or you can add a new tab button to your toolbar by going to View–>Customize Toolbar and dragging the new tab button to where you prefer on your toolbar.

That’s it for this week’s Tech Tip Tool Thursday.  If you have a question you want answered send it in and let us know!  www.thebigappleblog.com/submissions
