Oh this battle again???? 
Ok here’s the history: The original official Google Voice app was denied by Apple in 2009, siting “duplicating features that come with the iPhone.” The denial caused an FCC investigation regarding Apple’s app approval process.
Since then Apple published new guidelines which has not only streamlined the entire approval process, but allowed many developers to finally get approval. Apple has already approved a few non-official Google Voice apps, but finally approved the official one. Google has held off on the release in order to support the latest SDK and include iOS multitasking.
