I know what your thinking “How is this Apple news?” it isn’t but before you jump down my throat let me explain myself. Apple is trying to go green, they advertise how energy efficient they are and how their products dont use certain types of materials, like PVC and BFR, that are harmful to the environment and people. So seeing that Apple is trying to go green I thought I’d mention Porsche’s attempt too.

Back in March Porsche unveiled this beast to the world at the Geneva Motor show. Now Porsche has officially announced that they will indeed produce the car. The 918 spyder has a 3.4L V8 that produces 500 bhp, it has a top speed of 198 MPH and it goes naught to 60 in under 3.2 seconds. So it seems like the 918 is just another super car that you will never get your hands on. But its not, well it is you will probably never get one expect pricing to be around half a million euros or $650,000. So what separates the 918 from other super cars well its that V8 I was just talking about. 3.4L is quite small for a V8, this engine is so small is because it is a plug in hybrid. Thats right this super car that is almost capable of breaking 200 mph and produces 500 bhp is a hybrid. It gets an estimated 78 mpg and can go 16 miles purely on electricity, take that Prius. Porche proves with this car that hybrids can be cool. So when you are making fun of your friends for driving a Prius, and they retort by saying “it’s a hybrid it’s not supposed to look cool” you look them in the eye and say they can’t use that excuse anymore because the 918 Spyder is out and boy is it pretty.
