It can - but only with the new magic case that Apple just patented. Apple applied for a accessory transceiver. Essentially it's a case that has a SIM card in it that allows for voice and data to travel over a cell network. Apple's patent doesn't seem to be aiming at adding voice to the iPod touch, but more towards allow the iPhone to use a CDMA network (for those keeping score that's Verizon and Sprint). It seems like a lot for Apple to be actually coming up with this device, but knowing Apple it's probably...

Remember the election night in 2008 when CNN correspondent Jessica Yellin showed up on Wolf Blitzer's coverage. Yellin was the lady who looked all smooshed with the weird blue glow around her, you know the lady who was a hologram. I remember hearing her say she was standing in a room with 35 high definition cameras, and all I thought was this doesn't look that cool, Blitzer can't see her, and that it was a waste of time money and resources. AT&T's CEO Ralph de la Vega stated that he's not worried if Verizon gets the iPhone. Now he's not saying they are getting the iPhone but if Apple decides to go that route, AT&T would not be scared. He's basing his comments off AT&T's numbers. 70% of AT&T customers are on family plans, and 40% of AT&T customers are on corporate plans - both a pain to let go of. According to hothardware.com, AT&T customers are very unsatisfied with the company. AT&T has responded by increasing spending in those cities that have had reception issues, as...
